Diego Samper

Diego Samper is a multifaceted artist whose work spans architecture, sculpture, painting, photography, and publishing. Born in Colombia and now a Canadian citizen, his art is deeply rooted in his surroundings, reflecting his lifelong connection to nature. His background in Biology and Anthropology informs his artistic vision, blending scientific observation with a romantic appreciation of the natural world. His work explores the intricate forms and patterns in both organic and inorganic life, capturing the unity that underlies all things.

Samper’s artistic exploration extends beyond the visual into the realm of sound with Wild Symphony, a musical project born from deep listening to the Amazon’s ancient rhythms—the murmurs of the forest, the pulse of life. Based in Calanoa, in the Colombian Amazon, it is a creative space where musicians from diverse traditions gather to engage in a dialogue between music and the wild. The project brings together Tikuna children, local knowledge keepers, and artists to fuse ancestral sounds with contemporary musical expression, creating a deeply immersive soundscape recorded entirely in the heart of the rainforest.

Beyond art and music, Samper’s personal experiences shape his work. After graduating, he lived in the Colombian Amazon for seven years, immersing himself in the raw essence of the natural world. This experience instilled in him a deep understanding of the patterns and connections between life, nature, and spirit. Whether through visual art or Wild Symphony, his work is an invitation to listen—to the landscapes, the voices of the past, and the rhythms that connect all living beings in a vast, resonant web of existence.
